On November 16, 2009 OneManAsylum.com went online. We started as a review site for books, TV, video games, movies and music. As time marched on we started the Group Therapy podcast and added original content like short stories and Ethan Eternal. After two and half years and almost 1,000 posts later, we are going into hiatus.
I started the site with the help of some of my close friends and family and over time made some new friends as they came on board. We threw a lot of stuff against the wall to see what would stick and learned a lot along the way. And while we have had to cut back in the last several months in order to stay afloat, it has become too time consuming to continue on with the site as is.
So this will be the last post you will see for awhile. This was not an easy decision by any means and it feels like I am losing a little part of myself in doing it, but alas the decision has been made and it is for the best.
But before I sign off, I would like to publically thank everyone who worked on the site and contributed to it.
Christy, my loving and supportive wife. I know I have spent way too much time talking about and working on the site but still you let me have my hobby and supported along the way.
Rudy and Jaime (Warrior and Venom), thanks for going in on this little adventure. During this time we got to see Jamison born and grow into the little man he has become. Too bad we won’t get to hear about how Kindle will torture her daddy as well.
Lou and Cindy, we also got to see your little one come into the world and grow. Thanks for all of the articles and times you did the show. We really do need to figure out a way to see each other more often (psst move closer!)
Cris and Aubrey, we didn’t see a little one from y’all, but we did get to see the two of you tie the knot. We won’t make it to another comic con as a site, but it will be even more fun when we get to take our kids in the future.
Duckie, it has been awesome getting to know you lady. I’m still surprised you not only joined the site but came on the show as well. I’ve enjoyed getting to know you and who knows, I might even get a chance to read your blog now! Keep working on the short stories.
Ian, great work man. I only wish we could be around longer for you to do more. Maybe you should look into reviewing games for a bigger site.
Bolden, our biggest fan! I’m so glad you joined the site. Much like Duckie and Ian, you should really consider contributing to a bigger site. I’m sure there are book review sites that would love to have you opinions. Now what are you going to do on Saturday nights?
Dad, I’m sure you will never read this but thanks for the few articles you contributed. Everyone was appreciated.
Johnny, sorry we never got you on the show. You wit in the chat room always made for a better show.
Lanie, thanks for contributing when you could. I know being in school made it difficult.
Leah, thanks for helping out with articles. I enjoyed reading them because it was like I was still at SHS and we could discuss movies still.
Mannon, your articles were so detailed, so extremely researched I felt like they could have been part of a how-to manual or research paper. Thanks for the insight and knowledge.
Jay, you came on board with gusto and gave me 100% the entire time. You are like a brother to me and though the site be be coming to a close, our friendship will not. I’ll try not to suck so bad on MW3.
And Cyrus, my arch nemesis. Thanks for coming along the journey with me. I’m sure this will not be our last endeavor together. Maybe next time we can figure out something that will actually make money :)
And of course you, the readers. There were never many of you and even fewer that stuck around but I do appreciate every one of you who read an article, posted a comment or watched the show.
I will keep the website up and running. Please feel free to download any of the articles on the site. Also, I will be changing the RSS feed for the shows so you can easily download them all.
I have a feeling this will not be the last you hear of us. If you want to keep up with what is going on with any of us, please follow us on Twitter.
All good things must come to an end and this was a good thing.
