Random Ramblings: Cancelled TV Shows

Submitted by:

Optimusgene

Last week my wife felt the bitter sting of a network’s choice to put funding over fans; ABC announced they would be cancelling GCB. While this was not the first time she has had a show she enjoys yanked off the air due to “low ratings,” it will certainly not be the last either. And this is the perfect illustration of why the current model for TV programing is dying and with any luck, will soon be dead.

Random Ramblings: The Avengers vs The Dark Knight Rises

Submitted by:

Now, as the Summer Movie game has begun, The Avengers has started things off with an amazing lead.  It has even broken records as the biggest opening weekend for any movie… but will it, in fact, be the one to take the first place spot this summer as the movie to make the most money?  It does have a good chance of doing that, I admit, but I do believe The Dark Knight Rises does have a decent chance of breaking some records of its own.

Random Ramblings: D-Bag Ranger Fans

Submitted by:

Techxmex

Ok, I know I know. I am a Texas Rangers baseball fan so why am I picking on other Ranger baseball fans. The reason is some of them are bandwagon jumpers that happen to be total D-BAGS. The Rangers have not been winners at all so after a couple of World Series appearances these D-BAG noobs start going to ball games. So this article is for those noobs who want to be part of the experience. In sports there are rules. This article will emphasize baseball’s unwritten rules though they may apply to any sport.

A Change in the Schedule

Submitted by:

Optimusgene

The times, they are a changing. Ever since we went live on the Internet just over two years ago, OneManAsylum.com has had new content on the front page every single day. We have come very close to not having something on several occasions but always managed to get something up and running.

But starting next week that will change. Instead of having new content every day of the week, we will move to a five day model. Group Therapy will continue to record live on Saturday nights, Cyrus will continue to bring us new episodes from the Dawn of Twilight movie and the editied version of Group Therapy will still post on Mondays for you to download and enjoy. New content in the form of reviews, articles and original stories will now be released on Wednesdays and Fridays. Any movie reviews that we have previously done for new release Blu-rays will also still be reposted on Tuesdays so you may still get 6 days of conent on some weeks.

For those of you who visited the site everyday we appreciate it and hope you continue to check back in everyday to leave comments and be part of our forums. Thank you for supporting us and we hope to continue bringing you new and interesting content on a regular basis.

Random Ramblings: Bad Commercials Part 2

Submitted by:

Optimusgene

In the first part of my rant about bad commercials we looked at some of the big fast food chains and how some have lost their way, like McDonald’s, while others seem to be getting on track, like Burger King. We also looked at Apple and how they can break all of the rules but their style will still sell products while Verizon is more interested in the weather than selling tablets. This time around we are going to look at some commercials that are extremely far out there but still work, what the place you shop at says about you and two genres of product that are so synonymous with bad advertising, nothing could possibly save them.

Random Ramblings: Bad Commercials Part 1

Submitted by:

“Good time, great taste,

That’s why this is our place…”

If you are a child of the 80’s I’m sure you remember that great jingle from McDonald’s along with the menu song (Big Mac, McDLT, A Quarter Pounder with some cheese…). How did we go from that to, “I’m lovin’ it?” Seriously? One of the biggest fast food chains in the world and the best they could come up with was I’m lovin’ it. Whether you want to admit it or not advertising has a big influence on us and in an age where everyone can share their creativity and people use DVRs to fast forward through commercials,  why do we still have bad ones?

Steve Jobs: The Man Who Changed the World

Submitted by:

Optimusgene

Few men ever get to change the world. Steve Jobs was one of them. In fact Steve Jobs not only changed the world, he did it several times. On Wednesday, October 5 Jobs lost his battle to pancreatic cancer and the technology community immediately felt the loss. But in all honesty, every person on this planet should have felt it. If you have ever used a computer then you owe a debt of gratitude to the visionary that was Steve Jobs.

Denny’s Mac N’ Cheese Big Daddy Patty Melt

Submitted by:

Jay Red

This week at work I decided to try something new for lunch and ordered a Mac 'n Cheese Big Daddy Patty Melt. This monstrosity of a burger is part of the new Let's Get Cheesy menu at America's 24-hour diner, Denny's. I can honestly say that even for a big man such as myself, this is one hell of a burger to try in finish in a short lunch period.
